The pharmacy of Santa Maria Novella is one of the world’s oldest pharmacies, founded by the Dominican friars who settled in Florence in 1221.

After the pharmacy was officially opened in 1612, the fame of the many medications, balms and creams created by the chemist friars in the monastic gardens spread throughout the whole of Europe and the Orient during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Today, over 800 years since its founding, the ancient pharmacy has increased its product range, but still offers an exclusive product based on medicinal plants and herbs, cultivated using natural methods without the use of pesticides.
